In our recently published short report discussing `Molecular evidence of Rickettsia
felis infection in dogs from Northern Territory, Australia (Hii et al. Parasit Vectors
2011, 4: 198), the sterilization programme being performed on indigenous community
dogs was mistakenly stated to be facilitated by the Animal Management in Rural and
Remote Indigenous Communities (AMRRIC) organisation in the indigenous community of
Maningrida, Northern Territory (NT).
This sterilization programme was instead undertaken by a private veterinarian, Dr.
Ted Donelan, who is also the president of AMRRIC. The relevant sentence should therefore
have read Blood samples were collected from 130 dogs undergoing sterilisation procedures
as part of the Dog Health Program conducted by a veterinarian, Dr. Ted Donelan in
the indigenous community of Maningrida, NT..
We apologize for the error and any confusion this may have caused.
