Spatio-temporal patterns of distribution of West Nile virus vectors in eastern Piedmont Region, Italy

Donal Bisanzio, Mario Giacobini, Luigi Bertolotti, Andrea Mosca, Luca Balbo, Uriel Kitron, Gonzalo M Vazquez-Prokopec Parasites & Vectors 2011, 4:230 (9 December 2011)

We developed spatio-temporal models to predict the environmental suitability of a region in North-eastern Italy to the presence of three putative West Nile Virus (WNV) vectors. The vector suitability maps derived from our study can help inform surveillance and control programs about the location of areas that could potentially become points of entry and local amplification of WNV into the region.
